Jake is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of 39 North. He focuses on origination, structuring, and all financial aspects of 39 North investments.

He currently serves on the board of eegee’s, DRC, and LawLers Barbecue.

Prior to 39 North, Jake was a Partner at 13th Floor Investments, a real estate private equity firm where he focused on sourcing and capitalizing opportunistic investments in South Florida. Jake previously focused on small-cap private equity transactions across various business services industries at H.I.G. Capital, a $40Bn+ global firm. He started his career in the Global Industrials and Services group at Credit Suisse.

Jake holds an MBA from the Wharton School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Finance. He is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO).

Tim Lucey

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Tim is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of 39 North. He focuses on origination, strategy, and all operational aspects of 39 North investments.

He currently serves on the board of eegee’s, DRC, and LawLers Barbecue.

Prior to 39 North, Tim was COO of Meineke Car Care, a private equity-owned automotive repair business with 900+ franchised locations. In this role, he led a comprehensive revamp of Meineke's operating playbook prior to a successful sale of the company. Previous to his operating role, Tim focused on private equity investment at Harvest Partners. He started his career in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Wachovia Securities.

Tim holds an MBA from the Wharton School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Finance.

Wayne Bell
Wayne Bell is a Board Member and Operating Partner of Diversified Roofing, a 39N partnership. As a 27-year business operator skilled in leadership, P&L management, operations, sales, finance, and process development, Wayne has served as President and CEO of multiple public and private firms. He brings a demonstrated history of growing and scaling businesses across multiple industries including Telecomm, Technology, Asphalt & Concrete Construction, Steel Fabrication & Installation, Landscape Maintenance Services, Masonry Construction, Waterproofing & Restoration, and Residential and Commercial Roofing services. Wayne is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and resides in Fountain Hills, AZ.

Scott Black
Scott Black is the CEO and a Board Member of LawLers Barbecue, a 39N partnership. Scott has grown up in the restaurant industry, beginning with a General Manager position of a startup pizza concept in Boulder, CO that he eventually purchased and led to 27 company-owned and franchised locations. He then joined Noodles & Company as its first Market Director, tasked with opening the Chicago market and expanding the brand’s footprint in the Midwest. He eventually rose to Regional Director of Operations, opened over 70 restaurants in 6 new markets, was a member of the Executive and Culinary committees, and chaired the NRO committee. Following his exit from Noodles, Scott took on a variety of progressive leadership roles with several fast-casual brands, serving as a consultant, Director, VPO and COO for the following branded concepts: Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh, Naked Pizza, LYFE Kitchen, Bobby’s Burger Palace, and Burger Monger.

Don Braden
Don Braden is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Don most recently served as Partner and CEO of a large regional auto body repair company under private equity ownership and ultimately led the successful sale of the company to a national operator. Prior to his time in the auto industry, Don was CFO of a billion-dollar revenue Alaskan Native Regional Corporation, and prior to that spent 20 years as an executive with small, medium, and large commercial banks in Alaska and Detroit. He began his career as a cost accountant with UniRoyal. Don is semi-retired, focuses on his golf game and managing a small portfolio of real estate investments, and lives in Portland, OR.

Greg Brening
Greg Brening is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Greg is an entrepreneurial-minded innovator with a record of insightful analysis of business fundamentals, patterns, and trends with decades of experience as an executive, franchisee, and board member. He most recently served as VP of Retail Development for Peet’s Coffee. Prior to Peet’s, he was VP of the West Region for Meineke Car Care. Prior to Meineke, he served as Owner/President of a regional Burger King franchisee. Greg has a talent for reinventing, reinvigorating, and re-aligning business operations, and has a passion for building and leading high-performance teams. Greg is currently enjoying life in Loomis, CA.

Tim Brown
Tim Brown is a Board Member of Diversified Roofing, a 39N partnership. Tim currently serves as Chief Client Services Officer and Global Head of Family Office Services for Berkowitz Pollak Brant, where he leads the firm’s focus on family offices, cross-border global families, entrepreneurs/closely held businesses, tax strategy/planning and commercial real estate. Prior to BPB, Tim served with Bernstein Private Wealth Management and as Managing Partner with HB Partners, a boutique investment bank working with high-growth commercial real estate companies and “buy-side” representation for single-family offices. Tim also served as consultant with Cornerstone Holdings (the McCloskey single-family office) and continues to consult with Anschutz Investments (the Anschutz single-family office). Before these roles, Tim served as President of Concord Energy Holdings, a Colorado-based integrated commodity logistics and oilfield services company, and founded/led Radius Media Holdings. He began his career in the telecom industry, working for companies including Cisco Systems, Alteon Web Systems (Nortel Networks), and American Power Conversion. Tim is the author of two books (“Jumping into the Parade” and “Old School with New Tools”), is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and resides in Key Biscayne, FL.

Gary Katz
Gary Katz is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Gary is a healthcare entrepreneur with proven expertise and success in the physical therapy space. In 2000, Gary took a leap of faith and left his position as Regional Vice President at HealthSouth to open his own physical therapy practice. Gary grew Maryland SportsCare & Rehab from a sole outpatient clinic to over 30 locations plus an athletic training outreach program that served school districts and youth sports organizations throughout Maryland. At the same time, Gary co-founded and operated PT Network, a partnership of other privately-owned physical therapy practices, which grew to over 20 locations throughout Delaware, Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and West Virginia. In 2013, Gary orchestrated a private equity investment of Maryland SportsCare & Rehab and PT Network which resulted in the creation of Pivot Health Solutions. Pivot has a current national footprint of over 250 outpatient physical therapy clinics. Gary served as Pivot's first Chief Executive Officer before shifting to Chief Growth Officer and now an Advisor position. Gary also sat on Pivot’s Board of Directors. Gary graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor of science degree in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training and resides in Miami, FL.

Scott Kilpatrick
Scott Kilpatrick is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Scott is currently the CEO of Sauce Pizza and Wine, a 16-unit fast casual chain with locations in Arizona and Texas. Scott partnered with PNC Mezzanine Capital to acquire the concept from Fox Restaurant Concepts in 2015. Prior to Sauce, Scott co-founded RA Sushi in 1997 as a one-location restaurant with $1.4 million of annual sales, which he grew to four locations and over $9.0 million in annual sales over four years until its sale to Benihana in 2002. Following the sale, Scott remained responsible for RA Sushi over the next 11 years, during which the Company opened an additional twenty-one stores in nine states and grew to over $81 million in annual sales. Subsequently, Benihana was acquired and taken private by the private equity group Angelo, Gordon & Co in 2012. 

Tom Melton
Tom Melton is a Board Member of Diversified Roofing, a 39N partnership. Tom has led business transformation initiatives and merger and acquisition strategies for a diverse group of companies and private equity firms over the last 15 years. Prior to joining Pritchard Industries, currently backed by Littlejohn & Co, in 2013, he developed a natural resources investment strategy at Encourage Capital, and facilitated new investments and managed portfolio companies at American Capital.  Tom earned his MBA from Yale University, his BA from Hampden-Sydney College, and he completed the General Course program at the London School of Economics. He serves on the Boards of Hampden-Sydney College, Pritchard Industries, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, and is a founding member of Tumaini, Inc., a non-profit supporting secondary education in east Africa. Tom lives in New York City with his wife, Saara, and their two children, Eden (4) and James (2). 

Brad Nally
Brad Nally is Chief Revenue Officer and a Board Member of Diversified Roofing, a 39N partnership. Brad has over 30 years of experience in the residential and commercial roofing business, a majority of which has been as co-owner of Diversified Roofing. In his role, Brad is responsible for leading estimating, purchasing, vendor relations, and operational controls. Brad has membership in numerous roofing industry associations and is widely respected in the industry.

Jake Nossaman
Jake Nossaman is a Board Member of Diversified Roofing, a 39N partnership. Jake founded and led Collision Works, an autobody repair business, and grew it to 35 locations across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri prior to a successful sale to Gerber Collision in 2021. Jake is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and splits his time between Oklahoma City and Fort Lauderdale.

Cameron Perna
Cameron serves as the VP of Finance at eegee's. He focuses on executing the company's strategic priorities across operations, finance, and real estate. Prior to eegee's, Cameron was an Associate with 39 North Capital where he executed new investments and value enhancement projects within the Company’s investment portfolio. Cameron previously worked at The Blackstone Group, the University of Notre Dame Investment Office, and DBO Partners in various investment and advisory roles. Cameron graduated summa cum laude and Beta Gamma Sigma from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in Finance and Economics.

C. Ron Petty
Ron Petty is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Ron is a highly-seasoned, best-in-class quick service restaurant executive, having previously held the position of Chairman, President, or CEO of some of America’s largest chains, including Burger King, Miami Subs, Denny’s, Peter Piper Pizza, Del Taco, and Sagittarius Brands. Ron started his career as a senior real estate professional at the McDonald’s Corporation in 1972. Ron graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.B.A. in Marketing and completed the Columbia University Executive Program in International Studies. He currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ.

Mark Schouten
Mark Schouten is CEO and a Board Member of Diversified Roofing, a 39N partnership. Mark has over 30 years of experience in the residential and commercial roofing business, having grown up under his father’s tutelage and ultimately purchasing the family business. Mark has successfully grown Diversified Roofing for +20 years, and managed the company successfully through the financial crisis. In his role, he continues to lead the strategic direction of the company and all M&A efforts. Mark has a B.A. from Whittier College, is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and resides in Paradise Valley, AZ.

Greg Smith
Greg Smith is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Greg is a nationally recognized Athletic Trainer with over 24 years of experience in professional sports, including 18 seasons with the Washington Capitals. He is an entrepreneur, business owner, and investor with a proven healthcare and wellness portfolio. Greg co-founded Professional SportsCare & Rehab in 2002 and grew it to 20 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Greg helped orchestrate a private equity investment in Professional SportsCare & Rehab, resulting in the creation of Pivot Health Solutions. He served as Pivot’s first Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, and sat on the Board. He has continued to serve as an advisor to Pivot. Greg’s span  in professional sports feeds his philosophy of building strong business teams with a unified goal to win. He is an Athletic Training consultant to collegiate athletic programs, including University of Maryland. Greg also sits on the Board of Directors of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, which promotes the performing arts. Greg holds a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from the California University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with concentrations in Special Education and Athletic Training from Salisbury State University.

Rachel Spiegelman
Rachel Spiegelman is an advisor to 39N principals and the CEOs of its partner businesses. Rachel is a marketing, digital transformation and consumer behavior executive with over 20 years in strategy, operations and communications experience at high growth companies in various stages of development. Rachel currently advises numerous companies and their executives in maturing positioning, consumer understanding, and digital transformation to catalyze sustainable growth. Previously, Rachel served as the President of Connections for Material, a platform of globally recognized data analytics, consumer insights and marketing agencies. Prior to Material, she was CEO and founder of Pitch, a strategic and creative advertising agency, where she worked with Burger King, Netflix, Blizzard Activison, Hilton, and Pepsi before successfully completing the strategic sale of Pitch to Project Worldwide, a privately owned, global agency network. She is a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and sits on the Board of the YPO Women’s Business Network. Rachel graduated with a B.A. in Business and Marketing from the George Washington University and resides in Oregon with her husband and two sons.

Jason Vaughn
Jason Vaughn is CEO and a Board Member of eegee’s, a 39N partnership. Jason brings a foundation of operational leadership at Yum! Brands and Wendy’s. Most recently, Jason served as President and Chief Executive Officer with Frisch’s Restaurants, overseeing 140 locations in three states, 90% of which are company-owned. In 2021, he was named as one of the most influential Chief Executive Officers (CEO) in the country by Nation’s Restaurant News; and “Chief Executive Officer of the Year” by Cincinnati Business Courier.
